Tech by Southwest ventured out to Mashable’s fourth largest Social Media Day event yesterday. We found ourselves at the headquarters for The Orange County Register along with 450 people and at least eight mobile food trucks. The event was keynoted by the paper’s President and Publisher Terry Horne, who said that digital revenues accounted for 20% of their revenue in 2010 and would likely increase to 30% for next year. The rest of the afternoon was filled with talks about how columnists and small businesses in Orange County are embracing social media to build conversation and community.
After grabbing some food from the TacoDawg truck, we sat down with the head of the Register’s Website Task Force, Kevin Sablan, and learned how the newspaper created the fourth largest Social Media event in the world. Click the image below or here to play the interview with Kevin.
