Interactive Media Intern

Tech by Southwest – the premiere independent technology news podcast in Los Angeles – is looking for an interactive media or computer science undergrad or experienced professional to become an associate on our team. We are a non-profit startup that launched in March 2010 and have already interviewed senior executives at Microsoft, HP, Boxee and Google. With over 80 episodes completed, our vision is to be the definitive source for non-profit technology news. Interns may be assigned to assist on one or several aspects of the Tech by Southwest production, including the video and audio version of the podcast. Interns will work closely with the podcast co-founders.

Job requirements:

• This position requires a great deal of creativity, innovation, follow-through and initiative
• Each applicant must have an interest in tech news, consumer electronics, software development, robotics or all of the above.

Job responsibilities:

• Assist in publishing each episode via Wordpress, YouTube, Ustream, Facebook and MailChimp platforms
• Edit videos in iMovie/iTunes/Final Cut Express
• Edit posts in Wordpress
- Edit photos in Photoshop
- SEO meta-tagging all posts
• Construct and produce video

Required skills:

• Hustler, go getter, you are the tech geek in your crew, you believe in our vision , dependable and flexible
• Strong social networking background with an emphasis on YouTube and Facebook
• We’ll train, but you must be able to pick up a new software platform quickly
• Smartphone required

The details

• Compensation: unpaid but tons of perks including access to hundreds of startups and LA tech firms
• 3-month commitment
• 10-hour work week in West LA (3 nights a week from 7pm-10pm)
• Only one intern will be selected for the Tech by Southwest Podcast Internship
